He is reportedly trying to convince Carrie Bickmore to ‘jump ship’ from Network Ten to Channel Nine.
And Karl Stefanovic certainly seemed to be on familiar terms with The Project host when they attended the River4Ward lunch in Melbourne last month.
The Today host, 43, looked animated as he engaged in a serious chat with Carrie, 37, while his fiancée Jasmine Yarbrough sat impassively beside them.

The sighting comes amid reports that Karl is trying to convince Carrie to join him at Channel Nine.
New Idea claimed last week that luring Carrie to Channel Nine would be Karl’s chance to ‘get revenge’ on Lisa Wilkinson – who left the Today show in 2017 following a pay dispute.
Lisa is also believed to be locked in a ‘bitter feud’ with Carrie since taking up a role on The Project alongside her.
New Idea further reported that Carrie had become ‘increasingly unhappy’ behind the desk at The Project, as Lisa continues to conduct ‘all the high-profile interviews’ with celebrities such as Amy Schumer and Celine Dion.

It was reported in October last year that while Carrie was quick to congratulate Lisa for quitting Today, behind closed doors she was said to have been annoyed that Lisa would be joining her on Channel Ten’s flagship current affairs program.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Carrie was ‘less than impressed’ with Ten’s decision to recruit the veteran journalist.
‘(She is) p**ed off at Wilkinson being shipped in to sit alongside her,’ insiders allegedly told the publication at the time.
The Daily Telegraph noted that the cause of Carrie’s frustration was likely her comparably small pay packet of a rumoured $500,000 – an amount almost four times less than what Lisa was said to be earning.

Earlier this year, Lisa denied rumours of any feud with her new colleague, Carrie.
Meanwhile, New Idea claimed that if Carrie was to move to Channel Nine it would help ‘ease the tensions’ that Karl is having with his Today colleagues – particularly Georgie Gardner – following the Ubergate scandal.
